Hope!

Today I'm sharing a mixed media canvas called Hope.
I took a class sometime ago with Lauri Grimshaw~Cox and she was so inspiring.
Making this canvas was so much fun, took some time to complete, but I really like it.
I used every coloring medium that I have and some crackle medium and stains and stickles, yay, I had a blast.
Hope is part of my journey!

Finding My Wings...

Hi everyone!
So many things have happened during this week.
My uncle passed away one Monday and we have been sharing some family time, very sad days for all of us.
This got me thinking: life is a series of events that determine who we are.
Then, why don't I feel comfortable being who I am?
Maybe in my heart I know that there are things to come, that will help me get there, but then again, where is there?
I have to learn and understand who I am in order to feel complete, I know that this journey is just beginning, but I am ready for it.
Today my lovely partner in crime told me:
"Find your wings and fly".
My wings will set me free... then, I might be complete.
I felt the need to work on my art journal and here is the page:

For this mixed media art journal page I used: watercolors, acrylics, Gelatos, Dylusions Ink  and Distress Inks.
I invite you to find your wings and fly!!!

Book of Days...

Hi everyone!
This is so exciting, I just finished my first hand bound art journal. Yay Me!!!
Thought that I wasn't going to finish this weekend, since I've been sick, but I felt better in the afternoon and completed it.
I am taking a class with Effy Wild called Book of Days Boot Camp and Chapter One was to make a hand bound Art Journal. At first I questioned myself: Why would I want to do this, if I can go to the store and buy one?
Wow, I was so wrong. The experience is incredible. You feel this deep connection with your work, it reflects who I am at the specific moment that I made it. Lets face it, we are continuously changing, so no two books will be the same.
Here is my creation:

Quote: The only journey is the journey within." - Rainer Maria Rilke

For the cover I used Daler Rowney acrylic paints (Metallic Green, Permanent Rose, Cobalt Blue Hue, Silver Imit, White), Archival Ink ( Jet Black, Magenta Hue, Saffron), Versamark, Perfect Pearls (Sunflower Sparkle, Grape Fizz), Tim Holtz stamps and Inkadinkado .
I am so ready to begin working the inside of my Book of Days, this is such an amazing experience.

Color...

I love bright colors!
There, I said it, and it feels so good; the brighter... the better.
During my creative journey, I've always been driven towards the bright red and turquoise colors, happy yellows and marvelous purples, greens and fushias.
Color makes me happy, inspires me and makes me feel powerful.
That was my inspiration for this mixed media canvas:
For the background I used Dylusions Ink Sprays: Bubblegum Pink, Squeezed Orange, Pure Sunshine, Crushed Grape, Postbox Red and London Blue. For the letters I used a plastic stencil from a school supply. Added some shimmer with Perfect Pearls Mist: Blue Patina.
Then doodled a little with a black Sharpie and added small dots of white acrylic paint. Used Distress Ink ( Black Soot) around the border to finish it all.
I love this piece and can only wish that it brings some happiness to you.

My Creative Space...

Hi everyone!
I am so excited, I recently discovered Book of Days course and have been learning a lot, not just about art, but how I see myself as an artist.
Artist is such a big word, I always kept some distance from calling myself an artist, but then again, why do I have to be scared off doing something I love and letting others know.
Hum...
Our first project was to take a picture of our creative space, that space that's sacred, where you are free and just can spend hours without noticing and create a master piece at least in my eyes.
I did a simple page and want to share it:
I know it is really simple but I had so much fun adding different mediums and writing: Always Create, Time, Me.
I promise myself to always find time to  create!!!

Me, Myself and ...

Hi everyone!
Some days have passed since my last post and I have a little something to share with you.
I am a woman who is afraid of my reality, but I'm learning that things don't happen randomly, they have a purpose. The problem is finding that hidden lesson, sometimes we will figure it out quickly but there are other times when we simply can not understand why things happen.
You know what, I have come to the conclusion that I don't have the power to understand everything, and that there is a bigger force guiding me through all the confusion, trying to put things in a way that I can deal with them and for that I am grateful.
This is how I see myself. Under all the paint are the feelings that have made me be scared, but there is also a new me... a forgiving me... a grateful me... a hopeful me!
No matter how big my pain is; my heart will always have wings!
I am free, my soul is free...
Thanks for visiting.

Love,
Me
